Hi! I’m Chris. I’m from Texas.
I’m a staff photojournalist at The York Daily Record/Sunday News in York, Pa., and am also available for wedding, limited freelance and other photo/journalism work. I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in May 2010 with a photojournalism degree and a minor in Spanish.
After seven years in newspaper photojournalism (and more than half my life devoted to journalism at the high school, collegiate, semiprofessional and professional levels), I left.
It was a great run. I can’t express enough gratitude to everyone who trusted me to tell their stories, to my former coworkers, and to the many people who encouraged and supported me along my journey.
And I’m happy to have left on my own terms.
After pursuing journalism in Missouri, Georgia, D.C., and Pennsylvania, I’m now back in Texas, where I’ve changed gears to try my hat at nonprofit marketing and communications.
Photography and storytelling will always be my great loves, and I plan to continue keeping this blog, whether sharing my adventures in film or taking a deep dive into my photojournalism archives.

Hello from New York! I like your blog pictures.
Hey Chris,
I started a wordpress the other day. It’s kinda noobish still, but it’s a start. Hope the p-j is going well.

Your photos are excellent. Love the colors, angles, reflections and subjects you photograph. I like to shoot pics when I’m out in the Cascade mountains hiking, but I can’t be bothered to put the effort into my photos that you obviously do. Great work.
Janet
Really like the photos. Looks like my summer too… Bonnaroo to the Potomac River. Was looking for ideas for band pictures and thanks to you, I’ve found a great one! Thank you.
Happy Days

“I’ve hitchhiked to get to stories, left a job interview midway to cover a homicide and been run over by a state fair pig while getting people’s names for a photo cutline.” You sound like an amazing person.
So glad to have stumbled upon your blog – I have a lot to learn, and it’s great to have some good role models, so thanks for sharing!
I am looking for the photo of JamieKohler that you took at the South Western diving invitational. He is upside down between two painted swimmers on the wall. I would like to purchase this photo.
Thanks Carol Bemiller
Hi Carol! Thanks for reaching out to me. Our company changed how we present our photo galleries, and our old galleries are no longer available online as a result, which I know must be confusing and frustrating. Fortunately, some of the tools we formerly used are still available, so you can purchase a copy here: https://mng-ydr.smugmug.com/PrepSports-3/Prep-Swimming/010315-South-Western-Diving/i-JHvkFPp
Chris:
The American Legion is launching a program to catalog war memorials in communities across the country (https://www.legion.org/memorials). I had remembered reading of such a project in York County and found a 2013 York Daily Record blog post about Al Rose and his effort – and then I found your blog with photos!
Unfortunately, the links aren’t working, particularly the map.
Any chance this might be available elsewhere? Thanks for any information you might be able to share.
