Hi! I’m Chris. I’m from Texas. I like journalism, photography and photojournalism.
I’m a staff photojournalist at The York Daily Record/Sunday News in York, Pa., and am also available for wedding, limited freelance and other photo/journalism work. I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in May 2010 with a photojournalism degree and a minor in Spanish.
Half my life ago, I wanted to be a news anchor on TV so I could inform and enthrall thousands of viewers during the evening news program. Eight years later, a New Mexico hippie put a medium-format film SLR camera into my hands and told me to have fun. Ever since, I’ve been behind the camera — not in front of it — and consistently work to focus my passion for journalism into a pursuit of visual storytelling and reporting.
Previously, I’ve interned at The York Dispatch, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and washingtonpost.com, and been a state politics reporter, photo editor, photographer, GA writer and page designer for The Maneater student newspaper and The Columbia Missourian. Since 2006, I’ve lived and worked in Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, Georgia and Pennsylvania. I’ve left a job interview midway to cover a homicide, been run over by a state fair pig while getting people’s names for a photo cutline and had my knee bent backwards by two colliding high school football players as I shot video of the game. When I’m not covering daily news and working on long-term projects, I enjoy shooting film while traveling.
