A few things to note:
- Why yes, we incorporated the chicken dance.
- Why yes, we included a demon sheep.
- Why no, The Poynter Institute is not — in any way — affiliated with the making of this video, except for the fact that we’re all College Fellows here.
So I take it you were too busy filming to perform in it? Where there many other people not in the video?
The one thing that would make this video better is if MediaCom’s bandwidth was as advertised so it would actually stream instead of having to stop and load every 15 seconds.
Correct! I pitched the idea to everyone, remixed the song, filmed Camera A and did all the editing. A lot of people wanted to be in it, but we’ve been working on projects all week and quite a few people just didn’t have time to participate.
Try turning HD off in Vimeo?
I don’t get it.
We’re presenting our projects today and tomorrow. We filmed this over the weekend, and I edited it on Monday so that I could present it as my “project” in front of everybody. After the video was over, we moved onto my actual project.
No, I mean I don’t get the video.
I understand that you were trying to do a parody of a Lady GaGa song, a la NPR.
And I assume you’re trying to convey the point of “Bad Romance” but about journalism instead of a person.
She sings about loving everything about a person, including all of the negative and faults.
So I guess the video is supposed to say that you love journalism despite all the struggles, stress, long hours and low pay?
I just don’t see that conveyed in the video.
Maybe I’m looking too deeply.
Ahh, I see. We wanted to convey — loosely — that yes, we love journalism despite everything that we don’t love about it. But we were so busy with our actual projects that we didn’t have much time to film, much less develop a decent storyline.
Understood. I’m just a little too obsessed with all things GaGa. You could say I’m a bit… gaga.
That said, I really liked your project. It was cool that you targeted a young age to explain the oil spill stuff. Good work!
