I took these photos so long ago that the article with which they were published is now in the online archives. (Oops.) Basically, a York-born-and-raised rapper came to speak to students at New Hope Charter School, right before Memorial Day weekend.

Phene, a rapper who graduated from William Penn High School in 2004 and is now based in Atlanta, encouraged the middle and high school students to work hard and excel in what they want to do. The first song he performed featured the phrase "First one in, last one out" as a reference to how much time he spent practicing on the William Penn basketball team.

Davis, who was one of five students participating in the impromptu dance-off, ended up teaching some of his moves to one of Phene's associates.
